A staff member of Khazar University's Psychology Department, psychologist Mirsadiq Mukhtarov, gave an interview to the news website "Tehsil365" on March 31, 2026. The psychologist shared his views on the causes of fatigue and lack of motivation in children, as well as the factors influencing this condition.
The psychologist noted that the problems of fatigue and motivation faced by children in the modern era are not coincidental and are associated with a number of social, familial, and technological factors. According to him, today's children are exposed to a greater flow of information and various stimuli compared to previous generations, which leads to increased mental fatigue. Mirsadiq Mukhtarov stated that motivation plays an important role in shaping children's interest in learning and their developmental potential. A lack of clear goals and the failure to properly explain expected outcomes to children can weaken their intrinsic motivation.
The psychologist also drew attention to the role of modern technologies in this process. According to him, the instant gratification elements presented in digital environments lead to the weakening of skills such as long-term goal focus and patience in children, which in turn results in fatigue and decreased motivation in real life. The family environment has a direct impact on children's psychological state and motivation. He noted that both overly controlling and indifferent parenting approaches can lead to a weakening of intrinsic motivation and emotional burnout in children. In addition, comparisons arising from the influence of social media result in a decline in children's self-confidence.
The psychologist stated that creating a supportive and understanding psychological environment is essential for the healthy development of children. In his view, reducing excessive psychological burden on children, helping them feel valued, and creating suitable conditions for them to strive toward their goals contribute to the natural formation of motivation.
