On May 15, 2026, a meeting was held at Khazar, organized by the Office of International Relations, between Dr. Ralf Horlemann, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Azerbaijan, and the university's students and academic staff. The event, dedicated to the topic "Germany and Azerbaijan: A Dynamic Relationship," focused on existing cooperation ties between Azerbaijan and Germany, as well as prospects for the development of partnerships in the political, economic, educational, and cultural spheres.
The meeting consisted of two parts. The first was an official meeting with the university's delegation, attended by Khazar University Rector Dr. Razia Isaeva and Director of the Office of International Relations Dr. Firuz Suleymanov. Discussions covered the expansion of cooperative ties with German universities, future academic partnerships, student and faculty exchange opportunities, potential support for the development of German language instruction at Khazar University, and ways to ensure more active participation of Khazar University students in events organized by the German Embassy.
In the seminar segment of the event, Ambassador Dr. Ralf Horlemann spoke about the long-standing relations between Germany and Azerbaijan, the development of mutual cooperation between the two countries across various areas, and, in particular, the importance of international partnerships in the field of education. He also shared his views with participants on study opportunities in Germany, academic exchange programs, the role of young people in international cooperation processes, and future prospects.
The seminar continued with interactive discussions. Students of the School of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences addressed the Ambassador with a range of questions concerning German-Azerbaijani relations, international politics, educational opportunities, student exchange programs, diplomatic activity, and the role of youth in international relations. The Ambassador provided detailed responses to the students' questions and expressed high regard for their interest in international experience and education.
At the conclusion of the event, Dr. Ralf Horlemann was presented with a commemorative gift on behalf of Khazar University, and group photographs were taken with the participants. The event remained memorable for students as a valuable platform for the exchange of ideas and experience in the fields of international relations and diplomacy.
