A workshop by renowned Swiss writer of German origin Regina Dürig was held on April 17, 2026, organized jointly by the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation in Azerbaijan and the Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences of Khazar University.
The event was attended by Zahir Ahmadov, Program Officer for National Programs at the Swiss Confederation, Faculty Dean Dr. Milana Abbasova, Deputy Dean Gunay Hajizadeh, Dr. Gardashkhan Azizkhanli, lecturer at the Department of Languages and Literatures, staff members of the Library and Information Center, as well as students enrolled in the philology program.
At the meeting, the writer provided detailed information about her book "Women and Stones," which has just been introduced to Azerbaijani readers. During the session, students read various excerpts from the book, completed writing exercises on the themes of "stone" and "the book I would like to be," and also reflected on various moments from their own lives, transcribing those feelings into writing. Regina Dürig answered questions from the participants.
Following the event, Khazar University Rector Dr. Razia Isaeva received writer Regina Dürig and the embassy representative. Prospects for future cooperation were discussed at the meeting, and a letter of appreciation was presented to the writer on behalf of the university.
At the invitation of Thomas Stähli, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to Azerbaijan, Khazar University Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees, Prof. Acad. Hamlet Isakhanli, Khazar University Rector Dr. Razia Isaeva, and Faculty Dean Dr. Milana Abbasova attended a luncheon held at the Ambassador's residence.
