On October 13, 2023, a meeting was organized between students and lecturers of the Department of English Language and Literature at Khazar University with the director of “Qanun” Publishing House Shahbaz Khuduoghlu. The event took place on the initiative of Elvin Abbasbayli, coordinator of the newly established “Translation Center” of Khazar University, and with the support of Milana Abbasova, head of the Department of English Language and Literature.

Opening the event with an introductory speech, Milana Abbasova briefed about the Department. Elvin Abbasbeyli talked about the reason for establishing the Translation Center and its future plans. Then Shahbaz Khuduoghlu spoke about the establishment of “Qanun” Publishing House, the profession of a translator, as well as the features of the work of an editor and proofreader in the publishing industry. The publisher answered the students’ questions noting that the translator is the second author of the book and therefore needs to approach their work responsibly.

After the meeting, issues of further cooperation between Khazar University and “Qanun” Publishing House were discussed.
