On June 10, 2025, Türkiye's Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş met with the faculty and students of Khazar University within the framework of her visit to Azerbaijan. The event was organized by Khazar University's Department of History and Archaeology. Türkiye's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan Prof.Dr. Birol Akgün also participated in the meeting between the minister and the university community.
The event began with the performance of the national anthems of both countries - the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Türkiye. In the artistic part of the event, several musical pieces were performed accompanied by the Khazar University Chamber Orchestra, including Uzeyir Hajibeyli's work “The Black Sea Was Churning”. Along with the musical program, dance performances were also presented.
The founder of Khazar University and Chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees Prof.Dr. Hamlet Isakhanli welcomed the guests and spoke about the importance of continuously developing the friendship and brotherhood relations existing between Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
The event moderator, Head of the Department of History and Archaeology Assoc.Prof. Telman Nusratoglu emphasized the importance that common Turkish history and culture places on family values and gave the floor to the minister.
In her speech, Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş voiced motivating ideas for young people, speaking about her career path, her political struggle in an Islamophobic environment in Europe while preserving her national identity, the difficulties she encountered, and the support her family showed her along this path. The minister's speech was received with great interest by the faculty and students.
