The State Agency for Science and Higher Education (SASHE), the Executive Committee of SABAH groups, and Türkiye's Horizon Planning company organized a Multidisciplinary Spatial Planning Training on "Sustainable City Project" within the framework of the "Another Education, Another City" project at Khazar University from May 30 to June 3, 2025.
The main objective of the training was to promote sustainable urban development, study modern planning methods, and enhance students' practical knowledge and skills.
Students from the SABAH groups of Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction (AzUAC), Khazar University, Middle East Technical University (METU), Yıldız Technical University, Ankara University, Istanbul University, and other prestigious higher education institutions from Türkiye participated in the project.
Professor Academician Hamlet Isakhanli, founder of Khazar University and Chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees, delivered the opening speech. First Deputy Head of Nizami District Executive Authority Konul Hasanova, founder of Horizon Planning company and lecturer at Ankara University's Department of Landscape Architecture Dr. Necla Kılınç, Vice-Rector for International Relations at Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction Prof. Nargiz Abdullayeva, and Director of the Higher Education Institutions Sector at the State Agency for Science and Higher Education and Head of the Executive Committee of SABAH groups Associate Prof. Elza Samadova made presentations.
Fourth-year students in Architecture and Design from Khazar University - Jamila Safarova, Nuray Huseynli, Gunay Qadirli; third-year students Aydan Safarova, Ilahe Hasanli, Heydar Khudaverdiyev, Fidan Mustafayeva, Roya Hamidova; and first-year Architecture students Jafar Aliyev, Mehin Qahramanzade, and Seljan Arabkhanli participated in the training.
To enhance the productivity of the training sessions, presentations by trainers and specialists were conducted regularly. Dr. Necla Kılınç, Prof. Dr. Halim Perçin, Kübra Ergül, Hakan Mutlu, and Muzaffer Topak from Türkiye's Horizon Planning company, as well as lecturers from Khazar University's Architecture and Design Department - Ilahe Tahmazli, Sevinj Hasanova, Associate Prof. Khazar Zeynalov, and SABAH groups lecturers Prof. Yegane Hajiyeva and Teymur Isazade delivered presentations on various topics.
Additionally, lecturers from Khazar University's Architecture and Design Department - Associate Prof. Shahla Abbasova, Sevinj Hasanova, Ilahe Tahmazli, and Gunay Mammadova provided methodological guidance to students on the project during studio work and closely supported them throughout the training period.
As part of the training, a total of five projects were developed and presented. Certificates were awarded to the participating teachers and students.
It should be noted that this significant initiative is dedicated to AzUAC's 50th anniversary, and the project is implemented within the framework of cooperation between public and private sectors. Such international and multidisciplinary collaboration provides young specialists with broad perspectives in urban planning and sustainable development.
