On May 21, 2025, Professor Hamlet Isaxanli, the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees of Khazar University, along with Dr. Razia Isaeva, Dean of the School of Economics and Management, paid an official visit to the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) in Famagusta, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The primary purpose of the visit was to participate in the prestigious 7th International Turkic World Tourism Conference, organized by EMU’s Faculty of Tourism.
Before the conference, the delegation visited the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, School of Computing and Technology, and the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management at EMU to explore potential areas of inter-university collaboration and to familiarize themselves with EMU's academic capacity.
The delegation met with EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Prof. Dr. Osman Karadağ, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Öztüren, and other senior administrators. During these meetings, discussions centered around joint educational and research initiatives, student and faculty exchange programs, and the establishment of potential double-degree programs—particularly in the fields of tourism, economics, and management.
The 7th International Turkic World Tourism Conference brought together scholars, industry experts, and policymakers from various countries of the Turkic world, focusing on current topics such as sustainable tourism, digital transformation, and the strengthening of cultural ties. The conference served as a valuable platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience in terms of tourism education and policy.
At the official opening ceremony of the conference, Prof. Acad. Hamlet Isakhanli delivered a speech. His remarks on the role of education in the future development of tourism and the importance of intercultural dialogue were met with great interest by the participants.
Throughout the visit, EMU extended exceptional hospitality and professionalism, showcasing a strong commitment to academic diplomacy and regional collaboration.
This visit made a significant contribution to the further strengthening of academic and cultural ties between Khazar University and Eastern Mediterranean University.
