Khazar University Department Head Re-elected as MEP Member

On July 1-9, 2022, the 9th IPBES (International Panel on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services) plenum was held in Bonn, Germany. Head of Khazar University Geography and Environment Department Rovshan Abbasov participated in the plenum.

IPBES, a UN organization, was remembered for the adoption of numerous important decisions and reports at this plenum.

In the plenum, Rovshan Abbasov was re-elected as a member of the Multidisciplinary Expert Panel -MEP of IPBES for the second term, and he will remain in this position until 2025.

It should be noted that Rovshan Abbasov was elected a member of this panel for the first time in 2018. According to IPBES rules, one person cannot be represented on this panel for more than two terms.

As a MEP member, Rovshan Abbasov carries out tasks such as internal review of IPBES documents, verification of the effectiveness of the evaluation process, selection of evaluation experts.
