On November 5-6, 2024, an international scientific conference on "Cultural Heritage of Karabakh and Zangezur in Archaeological and Ethnographic Research" was held at Baku State University (BSU) on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the birth of Professor Gudrat Ismayilzade, who had worked at BSU and Khazar University for many years.

The conference was co-organized by the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS and BSU. Faculty members from the Department of History and Archaeology at Khazar University delivered presentations: Dr. Yaqub Mammadov - "What human species lived in the Azykh cave?"; Orkhan Zamanov - "The problem of weapons and warfare in the scientific and creative heritage of Gudrat Ismayilzade"; Dr. Yaqub Mammadov and Ulviyya Safarova - "Restoration of archaeological research in the Taghlar cave". It is noteworthy that Dr. Yaqub Mammadov and Ulviyya Safarova were members of the archaeological expedition that resumed work in the Taghlar cave this year after a 38-year hiatus.
