Opening the event, Assoc. Prof. Dilbar Zeynalova, head of the Department of Languages and Literatures, spoke about the significance of President Ilham Aliyev's decree declaring 2024 as the "Year of Solidarity for a Green World" and the hosting of the Conference of the Parties on Climate Change - COP29 in our country. She emphasized that these matters set important tasks for all fields, including humanities and social sciences.
Then, Assoc. Prof. Hikmat Guliyev presented a report on "Folkloric Thinking and Ecological Discourse: From the 'Search for the Water of Life' to the Idea of 'Perpetual Motion.'" The folklorist scholar discussed "technology and mental values" and "human-nature-culture relationships." He noted that since "green" world calls encompass not only the physical matter of our world but also its spiritual realm, special attention should be paid to mental values formed on social stereotypes and beliefs. The speaker also emphasized the meanings of the concepts "ecofolklore" and "ecolore."
The event included discussions on the topic, and questions were answered.
At the end, Assoc. Prof. Hikmat Guliyev was awarded a certificate from Khazar University.
