On September 19, 2024, Dr. Grigorii Penkov (Department of Petroleum Engineering) conducted a seminar on “Role of carbon capture and storage in clean energy transitions”.
During the seminar, Dr. Grigorii Penkov emphasized that Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) plays a critical role in clean energy transitions by mitigating the environmental impact of carbon emissions from fossil fuel-based industries and energy generation. Its importance stems from the need to balance the continued use of fossil fuels during the transition to renewable energy with the urgent requirement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
