The "Kazakh Paleolithic Archaeological Expedition," led by Dr. Yagub Mammadov, a senior researcher at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS and a faculty member at Khazar University's Department of History and Archaeology, conducted research in the Gazakh and Aghstafa regions from July 1 to 30.
During the exploration, a new Paleolithic site was discovered in the “Keshikchidag” State Historical and Cultural Reserve, located 950 meters south of Jandar Lake and 320 meters above sea level. The site, where stone artifacts from the Middle Paleolithic period were found, has been provisionally named the "Jandar Lake Paleolithic Site."
Further research is planned to continue.
