On June 27-28, 2024, the international forum "Solidarity for a green world: from waste to value for a sustainable future" was held in Baku under the organization of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, "Clean City" OJSC.
This year, Azerbaijan has officially declared the year of the "Green World Solidarity Year," showing its dedication to global environmental cooperation and sustainability that aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by emphasizing commitment to advancing global sustainability agendas.
Officials from the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, UN representatives, representatives of Higher Educational Institutions, and delegates from various international organizations and foreign countries attended the event. Khazar University was represented at the forum by Rector Associate Professor Irada Khalilova.
The two-day forum was finalized by the adoption of the "Zero Waste” Baku Initiative by participating organizations and companies. The initiative commits to sustainable waste management practices, innovative packaging solutions, and the promotion of recycling and waste reduction strategies.
During the Forum, a tour of the exhibition showcased various artifacts designed from waste materials and paintings at the International Forum Hall entrance.
