On November 4, 2023, a gathering took place at Khazar University's Mevlana Center for Literary and Philosophical Studies, featuring the distinguished Kirkuk poet, researcher-writer, and public figure, Dr. Shamseddin Kuzachi. The meeting was attended by an honored scientist, who introduced Kirkuk and Kirkuk literature to the Azerbaijani reader, Prof. Gazanfar Pashayev, the chairman of the Dutch Kirkuk diaspora, Neshet Ahmed, Assoc. Prof. Shalala Ana, Assoc. Prof. Khatira Yusifova, Shahram Oromi, and students of Khazar University.
Assoc. Prof. Nazakat Mammadli, the director of the Mevlana Center for Literary and Philosophical Studies, extended a welcome to the guests and emphasized the great significance of Kirkuk for Azerbaijan.
Prof. Gazanfar Pashayev provided details about Kirkuk literature, folklore, and the creative journey of Dr. Shamseddin Kuzechi. He highlighted that Shamseddin Kuzechi's two-volume work, "Contemporary Iraqi Turkmen Poets," garnered acclaim from readers in Iraq, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and various Turkic nations.
Dr. Shamsaddin Kuzachi is a highly accomplished researcher with over 60 published books. His works, such as "Poets of Kerkuk" (Ankara 2014) and "Iraki Press History," (Ankara 2023) highlight his significant contributions, positioning him as a respected international scholar.
Assoc. Prof. Shalala Hummatli spoke about Shamseddin Kuzachi's close relations with Azerbaijan. She noted that he was awarded the title of "Honorary Doctor" of "VECTOR" International Scientific Center in Azerbaijan. Since 2022, he is an "Honorary Professor" of the Turkic World Academy, and since 2023, the "Honorary Professor" of the Nizami Institute of Literature of ANAS.
Then, Shamseddin Kuzachi delivered a speech addressing the historical and current challenges of Kirkuk. He discussed the hardships experienced by the people of Kirkuk in their quest for national identity. Concluding his talk, the poet shared excerpts from his poems, known as khoyrat, related to Kirkuk. He also responded to students' questions and distributed copies of his books.
On behalf of the Kirkuk Culture Association, Shamseddin Kuzechi honored Assoc. Prof. N. Mammadli, the director of the Mevlana Center for Literary and Philosophical Studies, with the "Recognition for Outstanding Contributions to Kirkuk-Turkmaneli Culture, Art, and Literature".
