On September 29, 2023, Khazar University Rector Assoc. Prof. Irada Khalilova, Dean of the School of Science and Engineering Dr. Fakhranda Efendiyeva, Head of the Petroleum Engineering Department Dr. Elshan Abdullayev, and Dr. Grigorii Penkov, an employee of the same department, participated in the event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Society of Petroleum Geologists (ASPG) NGO.

A close collaboration exists between Khazar University and ASPG. Students of the Petroleum Engineering Department received numerous trainings from production specialists as part of this collaboration. Furthermore, geological fieldwork was conducted for the students. Within the framework of the cooperation, ASPG's office was opened at Khazar University.

For the high level of cooperation, the rector of the Khazar University, Irada Khalilova, was presented with the “Friend of the Society of Petroleum Geologists” award.
