On 20 April 2023, Khazar University, with the Azerbaijan Society of Petroleum Geologists, organized Earth Day at the Gala "Eco-park".

The event was opened by the director of the Gala "Eco-park" and the rector of Khazar University. The rector, associate professor Irada Khalilova, gave information about the history of Earth Day. Then Dr. Rovshan Abbasov, the head of the Department of Geography and Environment, gave information about the recultivation of contaminated land in Sumgait and Baku. Head of Petroleum Engineering Department Dr. Elshan Abdullayev spoke about the possibilities of application of Azerbaijani clays in medicine. After the event, students visited different sites in the Gala "Eco-park".
