On November 18, 2022, Melek Karimova and Khanim Rzayeva, employees of Khazar University's Department of Psychology, participated at the event on "Equality in education and development" held within the framework of state monitoring in the field of the rights of persons with disabilities in the state monitoring of the rights of persons with disabilities under the joint leadership of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Agency for Sustainable and Operative Social Security (DOST).
The event was held with the participation of non-governmental organizations, bloggers, university and public representatives, along with members of the State Monitoring Commission in the Field of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
In the meeting, within the framework of the implementation of state monitoring in the field of the rights of persons with disabilities, discussions were organized consisting of two blocks on the topics of "Possibilities of accessibility and inclusion in the education system" and "Current opportunities and difficulties for the comprehensive development of children with disabilities to realize their talents, knowledge and skills".
At the meeting, Chairman of the Board of DOST Agency, Farid Mammadov, gave information about state monitoring in the field of rights of persons with disabilities. Then, the head of the
MIET department of the DOST Agency, Shahin Zulfugarov, held discussions on accessibility and inclusiveness for people with disabilities, and gave information about the measures taken. New proposals were put forward about the necessity of creating suitable conditions for persons with disabilities in universities and the work to be done. Melak Karimova, coordinator of the Psychology department, gave information about the "Integration of students with disabilities into higher education" project at Khazar University and various events held as a continuation of the project.
