On June 22, 2022, the State Examination Center (SEC) officially signed a memorandum of understanding with Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC), Baku Engineering University (BEU), Khazar University, Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Mingachevir State University (MSU) and Azerbaijan State Agrarian University (ASAU) to increase financial literacy, improve subject programs, curricula and internal semester exams in finance, accounting and auditing, and bring them into line with international and local qualifications.
Rector of Khazar University Irada Khalilova and Dean of the School of Economics and Management Jeyhun Mammadov attended the event.
Speaking at the event, Maleyka Abbaszadeh, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the State Examination Center (SEC), highly appreciated the interest of higher education institutions in cooperation, noting that this agreement will play an exceptional role in deepening students' theoretical and practical skills.
The chairperson touched upon issues such as bringing PMS exams in line with IFAC (International Federation of Accountants) standards, mechanisms for exempting PMS holders from relevant ACCA qualifications, establishing professional development programs and integration with the certification process. She also provided statistics on PMS exams conducted by SEC, emphasizing the cooperation of the Ministry of Education with the Ministry of Finance, professional accounting organizations and training centers.
The participation of the ACCA Turkey Regional Center in the event was especially appreciated, and Filiz Demiroz spoke about the importance of this cooperation, as well as the opportunities created by the ACCA qualifications.
Rectors of higher education institutions, including Irada Khalilova, Rector of Khazar University, spoke at the meeting. Irada Khalilova emphasized that the agreement will be beneficial for the parties, will pave the way for serious steps by universities, will deepen cooperation in the acquisition of practical skills in accounting, as well as the application of international accounting standards.
Note that the memorandums signed by the SEC with higher education institutions will also contribute to the implementation of activities arising from the memorandum of understanding between the SEC and the ACCA.
