The article entitled “Identification and molecular characterization of Brucella abortus and Brucella melitensis isolated from milk in cattle in Azerbaijan” co-authored by Asaf Omarov, Head of the Life Sciences Department at Khazar University, was published in the journal BMC Veterinary Research (2022; 78:71).

The project was implemented for 2 years at the National Reference Laboratory in Goygol with the financial support of the U.S. government Defense Threat Reduction Agency-DTRA. Blood and milk samples were collected from cattle kept on private farms in Goygol, Goranboy, Dashkasan, Samukh districts and Ganja city. The results were confirmed by the Belgian Sciensano Veterinary Bacteriological Laboratory.
