On December 12, 2019, Khazar University Department of Languages and Literature held a roundtable dedicated to the “Numinous and Poetic Characteristics of Mawlana Jalaladdin Rumi's Poetry”. Opening the roundtable with her statement, Associate Professor Dilbar Zeynalova, Head of the Department of Languages and Literature, talked about the great contribution of the prominent thinkers like - Nizami, Nasimi, Fuzuli, Shams Tabrizi and Mawlana Jalaladdin Rumi in the development of Middle Eastern artistic and aesthetic ideas, especially Sufi literature and ideas, the spread of the idea of spiritual purification. The main speaker of the roundtable N. Mammadli, a senior scientist of the Institute of Manuscripts named after M. Fuzuli of the ANAS, delivered talk on the poetry of “Diwani-Kabir”, its deep philosophical content. N. Mammadli created a clear description of the rhythm, sincerity, and high emotional content, based on the original examples. Indicating that the work is also known as “Diwani-Shams Tabrizi”, Nazakat Mammadli, spoke about the personality of Shams Tabrizi, and his role in the life of Mawlana, and explained why the work was associated with Shams' name.
Later, the speaker characterized Mawlana's work “Masnavi” as a work being capable of instilling high moral and spiritual qualities, explaining the ways of achieving perfection, touching the finest points of human psychology and calling it to spiritual development. N. Mammadli brought up examples of different stories in the book, revealed their symbolic meanings and informed about their high educational value.
The roundtable was attended by the faculty members and students of the Department, as well as research fellows from the Mawlana Literary and Philosophical Center, which operates under the University. The speeches and suggestions of the Center's researchers were welcomed with interest.
