On February 26, 2016, students of the Khazar University School of Education organized an event entitled “Khojaly: Let Us Not Forget” in commemoration of the 24th anniversary of the Khojaly Tragedy. The event began with a moment of silence to remember the victims of the tragedy as well as other casualties of the fight for Azerbaijani territorial independence.

A video about the Khojaly tragedy was shown, poems were read, songs were sung and a dramatic piece was performed as part of the artistic composition prepared by the following students of the School of Education: Aytaj Hasanova, Aygun Ismayilova, Nazrin Ismayilova, Sakina Alakbarova, Mujgan Farrukhlu, Ayshan Mustafali, Mustafa Allazov, Aytan Asgarova, Irada Ahmadli and Farid Hasanov.

Faculty and staff members participating in the event included Professor Hamlet Isaxanli, the founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees; Dr. Hasan Niknafs, President of the University; Dr. Elza Semedli, Dean of the School of Education; Dr. Ingilab Ahmadov, Dean of the School of Economics and Management; Associate Professor Jabir Khalilov, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences; Vurghun Eyyub, Chair of the Department of Azerbaijani Language and Literature; Alovsat Amirbeyli, Director for Public Relations and Media; and Aygun Verdiyeva, Assistant Dean of the School of Education.
