Prof. Acad. Hamlet Isakhanli Delivers Presentation on History of Baku within "KOYA 10"

Within the framework of the "KOYA 10" Baku session, held at Khazar University from September 8-12, 2026, Prof. Acad. Hamlet Isakhanli, Founder of the university and Chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees, delivered an extensive presentation titled "The History of Baku from the Past to the Present" following his opening speech.

The presentation provided detailed information about the historical stages of Baku's development, the Icherisheher (Old City), the formation of the city's architectural character in the 19th-20th centuries, historical buildings constructed in various periods, and examples of modern Baku's new architecture.

Hamlet Isakhanli specifically touched on the history of the buildings constructed in Baku during the oil boom of the late 19th–early 20th centuries, speaking about their role in the city's development and the formation of its architectural heritage.

One of the notable aspects of the presentation concerned Baku's sculptural heritage. Extensive information was provided about the statues located in various parts of the city, their creators, the figures to whom they are dedicated, and the dates of their creation. Emphasizing Baku's rich sculptural environment, it was noted that the city could also be characterized as a "city of statues."

The presentation, rich in historical facts, examples of architecture, statues, and visual materials, was met with great interest by the participants of "KOYA 10."

The presentation gave participants the opportunity to become acquainted with Baku not merely as a modern city, but as a multilayered city that carries within it traces of various historical periods, is rich in architectural and sculptural heritage, and connects its past with its present.
