On February 23, 2022, Khazar University hosted the 30th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, organized by the Department of Languages and Literature. The documentary film "Sunset" (scriptwriter poet-dramatist Eldar Iskanderzade, director Elshan Zeynalli) was demonstrated at the commemoration ceremony and the meeting with the creative staff was held.

Opening the event, the head of the Department of Languages and Literature, Associate Professor Dilbar Zeynalova stressed that the events in Khojaly are forever engraved in the memory of our people, and that this act of genocide is one of the bloodiest pages in human history. Then the director of the film "Sunset" Elshan Zeynalli and actress Aybaniz Jahangirova shared their impressions. The director and actress said that they seemed to have witnessed the Khojaly tragedy during the filming process and experienced this horror.

Rector of Khazar University, Associate Professor Irada Khalilova, emphasized that Khojaly tragedy is the bloody memory of the Azerbaijani people and that the Azerbaijani youth has always cherished the memory of our martyrs. Director of Public Relations and Media of the University Alovsat Amirbayli noted the complexity of the events of that period and said that the essence of the tragedy was not correctly interpreted.

Then the documentary film "Sunset" was demonstrated. The film contains extensive information about Khojaly genocide. At the same time, with the impressions of the living witnesses of Khojaly tragedy, the participants were once again reminded of the horrors of that day.

At the end of the event, the film's creative staff thanked Khazar University administration and the organizers of the event.
