Derya Alkan and Melikegül Bedir, lecturers at the Faculty of Education of Akdeniz University in Türkiye, visited Khazar University on July 2–3, 2026, as part of the Erasmus programme. Within the framework of the visit, organized by the Department of Psychology, scientific-practical seminars on various topics were held for academic staff and students.
Derya Alkan's seminar addressed the topic "Artificial Intelligence in Career Counselling and the Black Box Problem." The event was attended by staff of the Department of Psychology, faculty members, and students. The seminar provided comprehensive information on the application of artificial intelligence technologies in career counselling, issues of transparency in decision-making, the nature of the "Black Box" problem, and its ethical dimensions. The discussions held around the topic proved valuable for participants in terms of both acquiring theoretical knowledge and exploring contemporary approaches.
Melikegül Bedir delivered a presentation at the seminar on "Quality of Working Life and Self-Compassion." Participants gained detailed insight into the preservation of psychological wellbeing in professional life, the role of self-compassion in personal and professional development, stress management, and the strengthening of emotional resilience. The seminar was conducted in an interactive discussion format and generated considerable interest.
The seminars held within the framework of the Erasmus programme contribute to the development of the Department of Psychology's activities in the field of international cooperation, while also being of significant importance in terms of sharing current scientific knowledge and contemporary practical approaches with students and academic staff.
