On June 17, 2026, an international online seminar titled "Cultural Heritage, Scientific Research, and Youth: The Keshikchidagh–Taraz Dialogue in the Context of the VI Summer School" was held, jointly organized by the "Keshikchidagh" State Historical-Cultural Reserve, which has been placed under the management of the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture, the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS, and the "Ezelgi Taraz" Historical-Cultural Museum-Reserve of the Republic of Kazakhstan, moderated by Azad Zeynalov, Leading Researcher at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS and PhD in History.
The scientific seminar was held with the participation of Reserve staff, volunteers of Khazar University, archaeologists and historians, university lecturers, doctoral students, master's students, undergraduate students, and specialists working in the field of museums and cultural heritage. Presentations were delivered by Mahir Gahramanov, Head of the Reserve Management Sector of the Museums and Reserves Department of the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture; Musa Mursagulyev, Director of the "Keshikchidagh" State Historical-Cultural Reserve; Dr. Yunis Nasibli, Associate Professor at BSU; Dr. Parviz Gasimov, Deputy Director for Digital Development and Artificial Intelligence at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS; Dr. Yagub Mammadov, Leading Researcher at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS and lecturer at the Department of History and Archaeology of Khazar University; historians Madina Ibadildayeva, Akerke Orynbasar, and Akdidar Karibekova, scientific researchers of the "Ezelgi Taraz" Historical-Cultural Museum-Reserve; and Akgul Altinbekova and Ali Muktasimov, staff members of the executive department for museum work and excursion activities.
The main purpose of the seminar was to expand scientific cooperation in the study and promotion of the shared historical and cultural heritage existing between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, to encourage research conducted in the field of cultural heritage, to support the involvement of young people in scientific and public activities, and to develop the exchange of experience between the cultural heritage institutions of the two fraternal countries.
Within the framework of the event, the results of the "Scientific Archaeological Excavations and Summer School in Keshikchidagh" projects, consistently implemented over the past five years, were presented extensively. It was noted that these projects are of great importance not only in terms of conducting archaeological research, but also in terms of enhancing the practical knowledge and skills of young researchers, expanding public participation in the protection of cultural heritage, and strengthening international scientific cooperation.
During the event, detailed information was provided on the areas of activity, scientific program, tasks facing the participants, and expected outcomes of the "Scientific Archaeological Excavations and Summer School in Keshikchidagh VI" project, to be organized during the summer months of 2026. It was noted that the research to be carried out within the framework of the project will contribute to a deeper study of the region's ancient settlement and cultural history, to the achievement of new scientific results, and to the further expansion of international scientific cooperation.
At the end of the event, participants' questions were answered, and the importance of continuing joint projects aimed at protecting cultural heritage, advancing scientific research, and ensuring the active participation of young people in this field was emphasized. In addition, international certificates were presented by both reserves to the speakers and students who took part in the seminar.
