An ICPC-format Programming Olympiad was held on May 26, 2026, among university students, jointly organized by Khazar University and the SABAH Program.
The competition, hosted in the Marble Hall of Khazar University, brought together 19 teams. Over the course of three hours, students solved 10 complex algorithmic problems, demonstrating their skills in algorithmic thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork.
At the opening ceremony, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Khazar University Fakhrandah Afandiyeva, ICPC Azerbaijan Director Etibar Seyidzade, and Khazar University Innovation Center Coordinator Fariz Hasanli addressed the participants, wished them success, and emphasized the importance of programming competitions in students' professional development.
The event was also attended by Anar Agayev, Head of the Information Security Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and Sadiq Akhundov, Director General of the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who inspired students to achieve new accomplishments and highlighted the significant role of such competitions in developing young people's analytical thinking, problem-solving, and innovative skills.
The competition was conducted in accordance with ICPC rules, and the CodeAny platform — developed by local experts — was used to evaluate participants' results. The platform enabled participants to submit solutions, have them automatically verified, and track results in real time.
Based on the competition results, 1st place was claimed by team TriBak (Masmaliyev, Ilyasov, Nurayev); 2nd place was shared by team Khazar BDN (Mammadli, Mammadli, Musayev) and team BittenFish (Valiyev, Qaraisayev, Hasanov); and 3rd place was shared by teams PHISHERS (Yusubov, Hasanli, Pashazade), Vincere (Agakishiyev, Ganjimli, Pirhashemi), and Khronos (Beydiyev, Khanlarova, Rzazade).
Winners were awarded cash prizes of 400 manats for 1st place, 250 manats per team for 2nd place, and 150 manats per team for 3rd place.
The winning team, TriBak, was also invited to an internship with the backend team of the Logix program — an international project by DESTEC LLC.
At the closing ceremony, Gorkhmazz Mustafayev, Coordinator of Informatics Olympiads at the Education Institute; Ibrahim Ibrahimov, Project Manager at DESTEC LLC; and Abbas Mammadov — a former olympiad winner who is currently pursuing doctoral studies at the University of Oxford — congratulated the participants and spoke about the prospects for the development of programming and the olympiad movement in our country.
As part of the event, students Javad Gurbanov and Huseyn Moylaev — who have successfully represented Khazar University at international programming competitions and set a university record by achieving outstanding results at the ICPC Regional Finals — were honored with special awards and received official commendation on behalf of the university.
Certificates were presented to all competition participants.
The event was attended by university administration, academic staff, representatives of companies operating in the field of information technology, representatives of the ICPC Azerbaijan program, olympiad coordinators from the Education Institute, and guests who had achieved success in the country's informatics olympiads in previous years.
Khazar University will continue to support initiatives that advance students' development in the fields of programming, innovation, and technology.
