Professor Samantha Curle of the English Language and Literature Department at Khazar University has published an article titled “AI-generated Shakespeare: A Corpus Stylistic Analysis of ChatGPT-4’s Generated and Adapted Scenes” in the international journal Social Sciences & Humanities Open (Elsevier, Volume 13).
The study explores the impact of generative artificial intelligence on literary production, with particular emphasis on questions of textual integrity, authorship, and stylistic authenticity. Focusing on AI-generated adaptations of canonical works, the research examines how emerging technologies are reshaping the understanding and transmission of literary heritage.
Adopting a corpus stylistic and comparative textual analysis, the study investigates selected scenes from Shakespearean plays, including Romeo and Juliet, The Merchant of Venice, The Winter’s Tale, King Lear, Hamlet, and Othello. The analysis evaluates AI-generated versions of these texts in terms of linguistic, stylistic, thematic, and contextual fidelity.
