An awareness event on the topic of "Micromobility and Cycling Training" was held on March 11, 2026, by employees of the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (ALTA), organised by the Career and Alumni Centre of Khazar University.
At the opening of the training, Zarifa Aliyeva, Director of the Career and Alumni Centre, gave a brief overview of the Centre's mission, activities, and projects implemented to support the professional development of students. She spoke about the career services and available opportunities provided to ensure students' successful integration into the labour market.
During the training, participants were given comprehensive information about micromobility, considered one of the key directions of modern urban mobility. It was noted that in recent years, new approaches have been applied in cities to organise transportation in a more convenient and ecologically efficient manner. One of the main directions of these approaches is micromobility — that is, the use of personal and lightweight means of transport for short distances, including bicycles, electric scooters, and similar vehicles. These modes of transport are particularly helpful in large cities both in reducing time loss and in preserving the ecological environment.
On the presentation, information was provided about APAR, one of the urban micromobility services. APAR is a micromobility service that organises the rental of bicycles and scooters in an innovative manner. The primary goal of the service is to transform these vehicles not merely into recreation tool, but into a part of daily urban commuting, while providing users with an alternative green transport option. Through the mobile app, users can easily rent bicycles and scooters.
At the event, representatives of the agency — Ruhlan Abulfazzade, Senior Specialist of the Communications Department, and Fatima Goychali, Head of the Innovations and Marketing Division of APAR — also provided information about projects being implemented in the country in the areas of surface transport development, improving the efficiency of public transport, and promoting alternative means of transport.
During the training, participants were given practical recommendations on the importance of adhering to safety rules when using micromobility vehicles, the use of protective equipment, and compliance with road traffic regulations. Students then took part in a practical cycling session, during which they tested their safe riding skills.
Such awareness-raising initiatives serve to foster a culture of safe transportation among young people, promote the proper use of micromobility vehicles, and develop more sustainable mobility habits in the urban environment.
