The management of hydrocarbon reserves, one of the key challenges facing our country's oil industry, is undergoing a transformation toward new management systems. Azerbaijan is now transitioning from the Soviet-era system dating back to 1983 to the international PRMS (Petroleum Resources Management System) — the system for managing petroleum resources that is recognized in international projects for classifying hydrocarbon assets.
With the aim of meeting these industry requirements, a new course — Reserve Management — is being taught at the bachelor's and master's levels in the Petroleum Engineering Department of Khazar University. The objective is to train specialists in line with the demands of the modern industry. The classes, planned in coordination with industrial enterprises, are delivered on the basis of methodological materials aligned with the guidelines and methodologies of the relevant systems in our country. The course was initiated by Dr. Elvin Ahmadov, Head of the Reservoir Evaluation and Hydrocarbon Reserves Management Department at SOCAR and Head of the Petroleum Engineering Department.
