Konul Ibrahimli, a 4th-year student of the History Teaching specialization at the School of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences, has been appointed chairperson of the Archaeological Society
On February 13, 2026, a meeting dedicated to the presentation of the Archaeological Society was held at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).
The event was attended by the institute's director Assoc. Prof. Farhad Guliyev, the institute's academic secretary Assoc. Prof. Ellada Bakirova, the institute's leading researcher Assoc. Prof. Parviz Gasimov, and Dr. Yaqub Mammadov, lecturer at the Department of History and Archaeology of Khazar University, as well as the founders of the Archaeological Society — Orkhan Zamanov, head of the institute's Scientific Exhibition Organization Department and lecturer at the Department of History and Archaeology of Khazar University — along with department staff members Nurana Hasanova and Turkan Aliyeva, and students from various universities, including students of Khazar University.
The event was opened with introductory remarks by institute director Assoc. Prof. Farhad Guliyev, who stated that the institute's leadership remains consistently open to innovative and well-grounded initiatives. At the event, the society's chairperson — Konul Ibrahimli, a 4th-year student of the History Teaching specialization at the Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (HESS) of Khazar University — and its secretary — Nazrin Guliyeva, a 2nd-year student of the History Teaching specialization — presented reports on the future activity strategy. During the meeting, detailed information was provided on the goals, organizational structure, and areas of activity of the Archaeological Society. It was noted that the society's primary objective is to engage young people in scientific research in the field of archaeology and to support initiatives aimed at the preservation and promotion of the national and cultural heritage.
After the presentation, project proposals were put forward by society members. The projects generated considerable discussion: "Archaeological Heritage Monitoring Platform" by Aysel Hasanova, a 4th-year student of the History-Geography Teaching specialization at Khazar University and member of the society's board of directors; "Echo of the Past" by Matanat Teymurlu, member of the board of directors and coordinator of the exhibition group; and "Karabakh Heritage 360°" by Saladdin Gochuzade, coordinator of the media group and a 3rd-year student of the History-Geography Teaching specialization at Khazar. An extensive exchange of views took place around the presentations, the practical implementation prospects of the projects were assessed, and preliminary agreements were reached in a number of areas.
During the discussions, Dr. Yagub Mammadov highlighted the scientific and educational significance of developing a systematized map of Azerbaijan's archaeological sites. At the conclusion of the event, director Assoc. Prof. Farhad Guliyev shared his feedback and recommendations regarding the presented initiatives, emphasizing the importance of building the society's activities in a phased and conceptually sound manner.
