Dr. Milana Abbasova, Dean of the School of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences, Dr. Muhammad Imran of Khazar University's English Language and Literature Department, and PhD student Eljan Salimli have published an article titled “Reframing Code-Switching in Anglo-French Humour: A Genre-Based Comparative Study” in “Open Cultural Studies,” a Scopus Q2 journal.
The study investigates the role of code-switching in Anglo-French bilingual humour across three genres: a comedy film, a stand-up performance, and a collection of bilingual jokes. This research contributes to the underexplored field of Anglo-French humour and emphasizes that while traditional functional models of code-switching are useful for categorization, incorporating genre as a predictive and explanatory factor provides a more nuanced understanding of bilingual humour.
