The scientific research internship of fourth-year students majoring in Philology at the Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences of Khazar University at the ANAS Institute of Folklore has been completed.
Within the framework of the internship, students closely studied the activities of the institute during October-December, and obtained information about scientific research, publications and current problems in the field of folklore studies. They also delivered reports and presentations at a number of scientific events, including the I International Symposium on Traditional Music and Cultural Identity of the Turkic World, the II Republican Scientific Conference "Western Azerbaijan Folklore: Problems and Perspectives," scientific sessions on the topics "Lachin: Traces of Cultural Memory Seen in Folklore," "The Epic of Victory of Forty-Four Days" dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Glorious Victory in Karabakh, as well as "The Folklore Context of Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh's Creative Work."
At the meeting on the results of the internship on January 22, 2026, the Director of the ANAS Institute of Folklore, Doctor of Philological Sciences Hikmat Guliyev, emphasized in his speech that the participation of students in scientific research internships is a successful platform for acquiring new knowledge and skills. He noted that these internships make a significant contribution to the formation of students' scientific worldview and their future academic careers.
The Head of the Department of Languages and Literatures of Khazar University, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Associate Professor Dilbar Zeynalova also spoke and stated that learning theoretical knowledge in a classroom environment is not sufficient, and that students' practical and scientific research experience, direct communication with scholars, and skills in using scientific sources are of particular importance in preparing modern qualified personnel.
The Head of the Southern Azerbaijan Folklore Department, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Matanat Abbasova, and the Head of the Folklore and Written Literature Department, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Leyla Mammadova spoke and particularly emphasized the active participation of students during the internship period and their great interest in scientific research work.
During the internship, the activities of students were evaluated based on criteria such as level of participation, presentation skills, activity in scientific discussions, preparation of abstracts and final reports, as well as documentation of folklore materials.
At the end of the event, the Director of the Institute Hikmat Guliyev presented certificates to the students.
