Within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme, Professor E. E. Ismailov, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences and Professor at the Department of English Language and Literature, undertook a short-term academic mobility visit to Bartın University (BARU), Türkiye, from 8 to 12 December.
During the visit, a series of meetings were held with the university administration, academic staff of the Faculty of Education, and representatives of the Erasmus+ Office, whose support contributed significantly to the effective organization and implementation of the programme.
Constructive discussions on prospective areas of academic cooperation were conducted with the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Çetin Semerci; Vice Dean, Associate Prof. Dr. Emrullah Yılmaz; Head of the English Language Department, Assistant Prof. Dr. Erdi Şimşek; Coordinator of the Erasmus+ Program and Lecturer at the Department of Educational Sciences, Assistant Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yirmibeş; Lecturer at the Department of Educational Sciences, Assistant Prof. Dr. Neslihan Köse; Lecturer at the English Language Department, Assistant Prof. Dr. Burcu Ak; Erasmus Office Specialist, Lecturer Murat İpek; and Erasmus Office Specialist, Dr. Esra Eroğuz Çoban.
The discussions addressed several areas of shared academic interest, including the training of research personnel within graduate schools, the collaborative development of effective methodologies for teaching ESP/EAP to master’s and doctoral students, and comparative analyses of international systems for the preparation of academic staff.
As part of the academic programme, Professor Ismailov delivered a lecture for students on the Swedish compulsory and upper secondary education systems. He also acted as an expert discussant during a student presentation comparing the Finnish and Turkish secondary education systems, drawing on his extensive experience in comparative pedagogical research. The discussions were further enriched by the participation of Mr. Fuat Aydoğmuş, Director of a rural secondary school in the village of Kumluca.
At the invitation of the school director, Professor Ismailov subsequently visited the Kumluca school, where he met with the teaching staff and delivered a short presentation to pupils on the general secondary education systems of Azerbaijan and Russia.
During a visit to the BARU Library, he was introduced, among other academic resources, to the annual bilingual (Turkish and English) periodical Istanbul Education Journal, which has been published since December 2024. On this occasion, Turkish colleagues extended an invitation to Azerbaijani educators to submit and publish their scholarly research in the journal.
