The Department of English Language and Literature hosted two engaging seminars on November 3, 2025, focusing on AI use in language learning and integrity in scientific discourse.
The sessions were led by Dr. Imran Muhammad, researcher at Prince Sultan University and Khazar University, and Dr. Davud Kuhi, professor at Khazar University and faculty member at Islamic Azad University. The event was also attended by Prof. Acad. Hamlet Isakhanli, the founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, whose participation added significance to the academic gathering.
The event opened with welcoming remarks from Dr. Milana Abbasova, Dean of the School of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences. She highlighted the importance of conversations that connect language studies, scientific honesty, and new technological developments.
The academic program began with Dr. Davud Kuhi’s seminar titled “Struggle between Centripetal and Centrifugal Forces and the Problem of Integrity in Scientific Discourse.” In this thought-provoking talk, he explored how the tension between these two forces shapes coherence, credibility, and ethical considerations in scholarly writing.
Following his presentation, Dr. Imran Muhammad delivered his seminar, “AI Reliance and Critical Thinking: Insights from Language Learners.” He examined the growing dependence on AI tools among students and discussed how this trend influences their critical-thinking skills, drawing on real examples from classroom practice.
Participants, including students, faculty members, and guests, were actively involved throughout the event, asking questions and offering their own perspectives, which led to a lively and insightful discussion.
Overall, the seminars were well received and offered valuable takeaways for both students and faculty members.
