On November 28, 2025, a meeting was held with Prof. Dr. Bayram Durbilmez, a professor at Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University in Türkiye and a renowned scholar and poet, organized jointly by Khazar University's Department of Languages and Literatures and the Baku Yunus Emre Institute. The event aimed to strengthen the promotion of common cultural and literary values of Turkic peoples among students.
The meeting was opened by the head of the department, Assoc. Prof. Dilber Zeynalova, who provided information about the development of Turkological studies at the university and the work being done to familiarize students closely with the cultural heritage of the Turkic world.
Prof. Dr. Bayram Durbilmez delivered a presentation on "Literature and literary studies in the context of Turkic unity," emphasizing that the concept of "edeb" (refined conduct) in Turkic culture is not merely a behavioral model but also a fundamental value that shapes spiritual identity. Drawing on examples from the Orkhon-Yenisei monuments, classical Sufi poetry, and modern Turkic literature, the scholar noted that the concept of edeb has been preserved as an unchanging aesthetic line throughout all periods of Turkic literature.
The presentation generated great interest among students. During the question-and-answer session, students addressed various questions to the professor, and Konul Huseynova, Fidan Azimova, and Nazile Agayeva recited excerpts from poems written by the scholar-poet in different years. At the end of the event, the scholar-poet recited his poem "Surmeli Yarim" (My Antimony-Eyed Beloved).
At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Milana Abbasova, Dean of the School of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences, presented a plaque of appreciation to Prof. Dr. Bayram Durbilmez. The professor presented books he authored as a gift to Assoc. Prof. Dilber Zeynalova for the university library.
