Faculty members from Türkiye's Akdeniz University - Dr. Seval Apaydın and Prof. Sekine Gülfem - were guests of Khazar University within the framework of the Erasmus program from November 17-21, 2025. During the visit organized by the Psychology Department, a number of scientific-practical seminars on various topics were conducted for both faculty members and students.
"Loss and Grief in School and Family." This topic was discussed at the seminar held on November 18. Staff members of the Psychology Department, faculty instructors, and undergraduate students participated in the event. The impact of losses experienced by children in family and school environments on their emotional and social development, changes occurring in teacher-student relationships, and the significance of the topic as an object of psychological research were analyzed within the framework of scientific-practical discussions. This seminar served as a valuable platform for participants in terms of sharing both theoretical knowledge and applied approaches.
"Adlerian-based Applications in Schools. How is Positive Discipline Established in the Classroom?" On November 20, Dr. Seval Apaydın and Prof. Sekine Gülfem conducted the next seminar on this topic for students pursuing teaching degrees at the university's Narimanov campus. During the seminar, students performed interactive exercises on the basic principles of positive discipline, management of negative behaviors in the classroom, and practical application of the Adlerian approach. The event generated great interest among students.
"Positive Parenting Training" for Master's Students. On November 20, the guest professors, with the organization of the Psychology Department, implemented a special training program for master's students in clinical and general psychology. The training was conducted within the framework of "Positive Parenting Training," one of the topics of the "Family Psychology" course taught by psychologist Malek Karimova. During the training, students acquired both theoretical knowledge and practical skills on modern positive parenting models, constructive approaches in child-parent relationships, behavior regulation, and emotional support methods.
These events held within the framework of the Erasmus program, while demonstrating the expansion of the Psychology Department's activities in the field of international cooperation, created important scientific-practical opportunities for students and instructors.
