Interview with Psychology Department Coordinator for tehsil365.news

Khazar University Psychology Department Coordinator Malak Karimova, in an interview given to tehsil365.news on November 18, 2025, discussed the impact of modern technology and social media on young people's emotional resilience and attention span.

The psychologist stated that intensive use of social media—particularly continuous news feeds, Instagram and TikTok reels, notifications, and social comparison—constantly stimulates young people's brains, which both increases emotional burden and causes rapid attention dispersion. These factors heighten the risk of decreased self-esteem, increased sensitivity to stress, and emotional exhaustion.

According to Malak Karimova, prolonged digital stimulation makes it difficult for the brain to adapt to the calm rhythm of real life and weakens emotional regulation. Young people's tendency to turn to social media during stress does not solve the problem but merely creates short-term distraction.

The psychologist emphasized the importance of balanced technology use, digital detox, and strengthening emotional self-regulation skills. She recommended that young people use social networks for personal development purposes and dedicate time to both their physical and mental health.
