On November 12, 2025, Mirsadiq Mukhtarov, staff member of Khazar University's Psychology Department and psychologist at the Khazar Psychological Service Center, gave an interview to the "Tehsil365" news website. The psychologist shared his views on the increasing number of young people in recent years who are admitted to the best universities but have weak life skills.
He stated that the main reason for this trend is that academic achievement is prioritized over life skills in society, the education system, and family upbringing. Since success is often measured by grade point averages, exam scores, and diplomas, children's emotional development, social adaptation skills, and internal potential remain in the background. Mirsadiq Mukhtarov emphasized that vital skills such as empathy, emotional regulation, decision-making, and responsibility are formed through the experience of making mistakes and facing difficulties, but excessive focus on high achievement can limit this development.
The psychologist concluded by stating that merely increasing academic knowledge is not sufficient to solve the problem. The systematic development of emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and life skills in school and family environments creates conditions for young people to be psychologically resilient both academically and in real life.
