The Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Folklore of Khazar University (Khazar ICAF) has presented a new publication as part of its ongoing efforts to study and promote the folklore heritage of world nations. The book, titled “Korean Folk Tales”, was published by Khazar University Press on October 30, 2025, under the scientific initiative of the Institute.
The project leader is Khazar MAFI, while the compiler and author of the foreword is the Institute’s coordinator, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor Aynur Gazanfargizi. The publication team included Leyla Masimli as translator, Professor Vagif Sultanli as scientific editor, and Aydan Aliyeva—a second-year student of the School of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences, majoring in Philology (Azerbaijani Language and Literature)—as proofreader. The illustrations were created by Aliya Humbatova, a second-year student of the School of Science and Engineering, majoring in Art Education, while the book design was completed by Narmina Gasimova.
The publication brings together selected Korean folk tales that reflect traditional storylines, moral values, and mythological thought inherent in Korean folklore. Special attention has been paid to both the quality of translation and the scholarly and cultural presentation of the texts. In addition to making a significant contribution to the comparative study of the cultural heritage of different peoples, this collection also serves as a valuable resource for students, folklorists, and researchers in the field of cultural anthropology.
