Associate Professor of the Department of Languages and Literatures and Coordinator of the Khazar Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Folklore (ICAF), Aynur Gazanfargizi, participated in the international symposium titled “Foreseer of Turan, Sage of the Century Mönke Biy” held in Aktobe, Kazakhstan, from September 18 to 26, 2025.
At the event, Aynur Gazanfarqizi presented a paper on "The Shaman-Ozan Relationship in Turkish Culture and the Motif of Predicting the Future in the Example of Mönke Biy," highlighting the common features in the artistic-folklore heritage of the Turkic world, various manifestations of mythological thought, and cultural parallels from a scholarly perspective.
The symposium brought together folklorists, literary scholars, historians, and researchers from numerous countries. The presentations provided a platform for scientific discussion on the cultural integration of Turkic peoples. Aynur Gazanfargizi’s report was met with interest by participants and sparked extensive academic discussions.
The primary aim of this prestigious gathering was to explore the perspectives of bards, ashigs, and shamans in the Turkic world through the figure of Mönke Biy and to ensure their transmission to future generations.
