"During this year's specialty selection process, prospective students once again gave preference to Khazar University among private universities, just as in previous years. However, this year we witnessed this trend even more prominently."
These words were stated by Elmin Nuri, researcher on education issues and staff member of the Social Research Center (SRC), in his statement to AzEdu.az. Continuing his remarks, the expert noted that "prospective students already knew, for example, where specialties taught in English are delivered with higher quality. They also understood very well what positive and negative aspects each private university has. Sometimes even better than education specialists. Naturally, we also provided our recommendations to them during this process.
Khazar University stood at the top of the list once again. Even the fact that annual tuition fees at Khazar University are higher compared to other private universities did not deter many prospective students from their decision. Parents would say, 'No problem, I will pay more money, but let my child study at Khazar.'" The expert added that "my intention is not to advertise any private university, but this is the reality and this fact cannot be concealed. If you speak with anyone involved in specialty selection, you will hear the same words."
The researcher particularly emphasized that "Azerbaijan University and Western Caspian University come next on the list. We know that there are 9 private higher education institutions in the country. Unfortunately, other private universities are typically chosen only out of necessity, for the purpose of finding a suitable place for students who have achieved the required scores."
