On May 15, 2025, Dr. Sevinj Gambarova, coordinator of the Languages Division of the Department of Languages and Literature at Khazar University, participated online in the "International Rumeli Social Sciences Congress" held at the International Balkan University (IBU) in North Macedonia. Dr. Sevinj Gambarova presented a report on "Common Phonetic Features in Azerbaijani Dialects and the Uzbek Language" and responded to questions.
The speaker noted that modern Turkic languages, which separated from the ancient Turkic language and are grouped according to various principles, preserve common features across all linguistic layers (phonetic, lexical, and grammatical) alongside their distinctive characteristics. She pointed out that certain features have lost their functionality at the literary language level but are preserved in dialects, which are considered the living archives of the language. For this reason, modern Uzbek literary language and Azerbaijani dialects were compared, revealing many common features in their sound systems.
