On May 7, 2025, Pakistan-India relations and ongoing geopolitical developments in the region were discussed during a special broadcast of the “Hadaf” program aired on AZTV. The program particularly highlighted how the Modi administration in India has leaned toward Hindu nationalism, posing threats to the country's religious, sectarian, and ethnic diversity.
Associate Professor Telman Nusratoghlu, Head of the Department of History and Archaeology at Khazar University, participated in the program and emphasized India's historical ties with Muslim Turks. He noted that from Mahmud of Ghazni to the Delhi Sultanate and the Mughal Empire, India experienced nearly 700 years characterized by Turkic-Muslim cultural influence. He also mentioned that most of the major monuments now included in UNESCO’s World Heritage list, including the Taj Mahal, were built during this era.
The discussion further addressed Akbar Shah’s policy of tolerance, the historical and legal basis of the Kashmir issue, and the referendum mandated by the United Nations in 1948.
The program also underlined Pakistan’s strong alliance with Azerbaijan and Türkiye, and it was suggested that many radical groups in the region operate under the influence of foreign intelligence agencies. Additionally, the growing cooperation between China and Pakistan and the strategic alignment between the United States and India were noted as contributing factors to increased regional tensions.
During his remarks, Telman Nusratoghlu stated that Kashmir represents a “Misak-ı Milli” for Pakistan, highlighting the region’s strategic importance and emphasizing that the ongoing tensions are far from coincidental.
