On April 28, 2025, a Student Scientific Conference titled “National Languages in the Research of Young Philologists in a Globalized World” was held, organized by the Department of Theoretical Linguistics and Turkic Languages of Baku Eurasian University. The event was attended by students and faculty from various higher education institutions across the country.
At the opening ceremony, speeches were delivered by Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs of Baku Eurasian University, Doctor of Political Sciences, Prof. Gulzar Ibrahimova; Head of the Department of Academic Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Natella Guliyeva; Head of the Department of Theoretical Linguistics and Turkic Languages, PhD in Philology, Assoc. Prof. Zamina Rustambayli; Professor of the Department of Theoretical Linguistics and Turkic Studies, Adalat Tahirzada; Head of the Department of Azerbaijani and World Literature, Prof. Elmira Kekech; lecturer at Khazar University and coordinator of the Khazar Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Folklore Studies (Khazar ICAF), Assoc. Prof. Aynur Gazanfarqizi, and others. The speakers emphasized the importance of preserving national languages, maintaining linguistic identity in the era of globalization, and engaging young researchers in scientific activities.
The conference commenced with a plenary session chaired by Assoc. Prof. Zamina Rustambayli. During this session, student presentations were delivered on topics such as linguistics, globalization, social media, and the protection of national languages, followed by scientific discussions. The conference then proceeded with panel sessions, where student presentations were made based on research in the fields of the Azerbaijani language, Turkology, and English studies.
Students from Khazar University also demonstrated active participation in the sessions, presenting their research in Azerbaijani language and Turkology. Under the academic supervision of Assoc. Prof. Aynur Gazanfarqizi, coordinator of Khazar ICAF, the following students took part in the conference: Pəri Nəsibova (Philology, 1st year): “Regional Features of Azerbaijani and Kyrgyz Cuisine”; Kamilə Səfərbəyova (Philology, 1st year): “Linguistic and Stylistic Features of Kyrgyz Epic Singer Sayakbay Karalayev and Azerbaijani Ashiq Suleyman Stalski”; Nigar Ələsgərli (Azerbaijani Language and Literature Teaching, 1st year): “Linguistic and Stylistic Features of the Works of Toktogul and S.E. Shirvani”; Aydan Əliyeva (Philology, 1st year): “Linguistic and Stylistic Features of Materials Collected in Soviet-Era Folklore Studies”; İnci Məmmədova (Philology – English Language and Literature, 2nd year): “Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Language: Impact on Translation, Language Learning, and Linguistic Development”. Under the academic supervision of Dr. Sevinc Qemberli, coordinator of the Department of Languages: Günel Abuşova (Primary Education Teaching, 2nd year): “Lexicon of the Kurdamir Dialect of the Azerbaijani Language”; Şənay Mirzə (Primary Education Teaching, 1st year): “Shared Lexicon in Azerbaijani and Uzbek Languages”
At the end of the conference, the organizers expressed their gratitude to the participating universities and contributors, affirming that such scientific events would continue in the future and that comprehensive support would be provided to young philologists in their research endeavors. These initiatives make a valuable contribution to the preservation of national languages, the development of young researchers’ scientific potential, and the expansion of scholarly dialogue.
