On December 3, 2024, the "Third Turkism Studies" conference was held in the Marble Hall of Khazar University, in collaboration with the Turkist Thought Union.
The opening speech was delivered by Khazar University's founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Prof. Academician Hamlet Isakhanli. He noted that "historical consciousness plays a very important role in the lives of nations", extensively shared his thoughts on the problems of Azerbaijani and Caucasian history, and wished the conference success.
After short speeches by Prof. Nasib Nasibli and Assoc. Prof. Telman Nusretoglu, Chairman of the 1st session named after "Prof. Zeki Velidi Togan", Head of the Department of History and Archaeology, the presentations began.
The first section included presentations by Prof. Nasib Nasibli on "Philosophy of Our History", People's Poet Sabir Rustamkhanli on "Why Do We Need History?", Telman Nusratoghlu on "Decolonization Paradigms", and historian Oder Gutluer on "The Necessity of Turkism in History!" A video featuring Ali Babazadeh from South Azerbaijan on "Anti-Turkish Persian Chauvinist History" was also shown, concluding the first section.
The second session, named after the prominent historian Suleyman Aliyarli, featured Prof. Dr. Abdullah Gundogdu's presentation on "Steppe/Turkish - Iran/Persian Relations".
MP Dr. Fazil Mustafa spoke about "Turkism in the Unchanging Ideological Understanding of History", historian Akbar N. Najaf discussed "Apolitical State - The Generality of Power in Turkish State Thinking", and Prof. Konuralp Ercilasun (online) presented on "How Periods Should Be in General Turkish History".
After presentations by Associate Professor Boran Aziz and Caner Kara, a video by renowned South Azerbaijani writer Hasan Rashidi about "The Difficult Situation of Azerbaijani Turks in Iran: During the Pahlavi Regime and Now" was shown.
Yasaman Garagoyunlu then spoke on "Bifurcation in Azerbaijani Historiography: Geography or National History?", Rufat Muradli discussed "Tabrizli Ali - Standard Bearer of National Ideology in the South", and Azad Garadarali presented on "Ancient Turkish History and Our Modern Literature".
After a video by Associate Professor Gulara Yenisay about "Qajars - Heroes of a Long Journey from Hun Akinci Branches to the Iranian Throne", historian Jafar Jafarli's presentation on "Soviet Remnants in Azerbaijani Historiography - Albanization and Shirvanization" was heard.
The conference concluded with evaluation speeches about the presentations.
