On December 2, 2024, a comprehensive deliberation titled "What Kind of University Do We Want?!" was held at Khazar University. The deliberation, which took place in the Marble Hall, was attended by the university's leadership, faculty deans, department heads, directors of research centers and institutes, and faculty members.
At the conference, Khazar University's founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees, Prof. Acad. Hamlet Isakhanli delivered an extensive report. In the introductory part of his report, the speaker took a detailed look at the formation of universities worldwide in terms of space and time. He emphasized that in Europe, the United States, and Asia, particularly in China, certain higher education institutions gained a strong university status not only through high-quality education but also through serious scientific research. He noted that in the modern era, this trend has become even more intensive, enabling the establishment of university-industry alliances.
Highlighting that Khazar University has envisioned this direction since its establishment, H. Isakhanli said that this work has gradually moved to a practical level and has recently gained significant momentum. Mentioning the creation of numerous research centers and institutes in various fields within the university and the continuation of this work, he also stressed that many foreign specialists have been involved in this effort, which is in line with the university's consistent internationalization course.
In the final part of his report, H. Isakhanli focused deeply on the work of scientific research centers and institutes at the university. He pointed out that organizational measures are constantly being implemented to better regulate their activities, citing a special commission recently created. He noted that the commission has been tasked with preparing a report covering the successes, perspectives, and shortcomings of research centers and institutes.
Prof. Acad. Hamlet Isakhanli expressed confidence that this important activity at the university will become even more effective and concluded by answering questions.
