Following ICESCO's decision to declare Shusha the "Cultural Capital of the Islamic World" for 2024, "Shusha Days" were organized in Morocco on June 6-7. The event was coordinated by the Shusha City State Reserve Department (SSPC), the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Morocco, with support from ICESCO and the State Tourism Agency.
"Shusha Days" concluded on June 7 with a major event at the ICESCO Headquarters in Rabat, Morocco's capital. The event was attended by Aydin Karimov, the special representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Shusha region; Salim bin Muhammad al-Malik, the Director General of ICESCO; Nazim Samadov, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Morocco; Murad Aghabeyli, the Chairman of the Reserves Management Center of the State Tourism Agency; and Tural Novruzov, the executive director of the Special Representative Office. Employees of the reserve, ambassadors from various countries accredited to Morocco, ICESCO officials, and representatives of state institutions also participated.
After the official part, attendees viewed an exhibition of photos presented by AZERTAC, a display of 18th-19th century Karabakh national costumes, and a presentation of Shusha cuisine. The event continued with a concert program where well-known Azerbaijani artists performed songs glorifying Karabakh and Shusha, and members of the Azerbaijan State Dance Ensemble performed national dances. The concert featured solo and accompaniment performances by Zulfiya Sadighova, the honored teacher and head of the Music and Art Department of Khazar University.
