Gudrat Ismayilzadeh, editor-in-chief of Khazar University's "Azerbaijan Archeology" journal, consulting professor of BSU History Faculty, doctor of historical sciences, passed away on March 1, 2024 at the age of 89. He also worked as a lecturer at Khazar University for many years.

Gudrat Ismayilzadeh was honored with the Order of Glory for his contributions to the development of education and science in Azerbaijan in 2019 by order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

He is the author of more than 200 scientific articles, several monographs and other books and textbooks. The outstanding scientist also mentored 2 doctors of sciences and 7 candidates of sciences. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Gudrat Ismayilzadeh's family and loved ones, wishing them strength and solace during this difficult time.
