On September 15, 2023, a scientific seminar dedicated to the centenary of the Republic of Türkiye was held under the joint organization of the Khazar University Mevlana Institute for Literary and Philosophical Studies and the Department of Languages and Literatures entitled "The sun rising from Azerbaijan to the world: Shams and Mevlana".
The national anthems of Azerbaijan and Türkiye were performed at the event moderated by Assoc. Prof. Nazakat Mammadli, director of the Mevlana Institute for Literary and Philosophical Studies. Then Nazakat Mammadli spoke about the historical significance of the liberation of Baku by the Caucasian Islamic army under the leadership of Nuru Pasha from the Russian and Armenian-Dashnak occupation on September 15.
Opening speeches were made by Assoc. Prof. Irada Khalilova, rector of Khazar University, Shahram Oromi, founder of Mevlana Institute for Literary and Philosophical Studies, Assoc. Prof. Dilbar Zeynalova, head of Languages and Literature Department, and Ilaha Kurshun, director of Hikmat Sciences Center, PhD student at the Institute of Sufi Studies at Uskudar University.
The well-known sufi, researcher-writer Cemalnur Sargut delivered an online report entitled "Experiencing Sufism today with the teachings of Hazrat Shams" and pointed out that the magnificent spiritual teachings of Shams Tabrizi and Mevlana Jalaladdin Rumi based on love, peace and evolution continue to this day.
The event participants made reports on the following topics: Doctor of Philological Sciences, Prof. Shafaq Alibeyli "Poetic dialectic of conflicting philosophical terms in Mevlana's verse", Assoc. Prof. Saadat Shikhiyeva "Reminiscences of Mevlana in Hurufi texts", Assoc. Prof. Nazakat Mammadli "Harmony of rhythm, meaning and poetry in Divani-Kabir", Prof. Reshat Ongoren, who joined online from Türkiye, "Evaluation of events in the relationship between Shams and Mevlana from the point of view of Sufism" and Shahram Oromi "My Sun, My God".
Director of the Center for Scientific Strategic Studies of the Turkic World Assoc. Prof. Mahammad Jabrayilov, who attended the event, emphasized the importance of the unity of the Turkic peoples and intercultural communication.
The well-known poet Assoc. Prof. Shalala Ana Hummatli recited the poem "Mevlana" dedicated to Mevlana Jalaladdin Rumi.
The faculty members of Khazar University -Assoc. Prof. Khatira Yusifova, Assoc. Prof. Reyhan Madatova, PhD in Philology Zamina Ziyayeva, Sevinj Ganbarova and employees of ANAS Institute of Manuscripts also participated in the seminar.
Tugche Yucebilgich, a media member, doctoral student of the Institute of Sufism Studies, Uskudar University, press adviser of Nafas Publishing House, Nilufer Tashkin, a civil servant working in the General Directorate of Foundations of the Ankara Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Selma Ekshi, Gonul Akkaya, Hulya Tashtekin, Gulchin Acun from the Institute of Sufism Studies, Uskudar University and others - a 25-person scientific team from Türkiye and Germany also attended the event.
The event ended with a musical artistic part after discussions, questions and answers addressed to the speakers.
