On December 5, 2022, an international scientific conference called "Soil Science: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" was held in the Marble Hall of Khazar University, jointly organized by Khazar University and the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry.
Founder of Khazar University, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees, professor, academician Hamlet Isakhanli, opened the conference with an introductory remarks, spoke about the important role of soil science in the world today, and congratulated the conference participants on the occasion of "December 5 World Soil Day".
At the plenary session of the conference, the general director of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry, corresponding member of ANAS, Alovsat Guliyev, spoke about the current state of soils, encountered problems and ways to overcome them in his report "Yesterday, Today,
Tomorrow of Soil Science in Azerbaijan". A. Guliyev gave detailed information about the deficiencies in the use of land and water resources in Azerbaijan and ways to eliminate them.
At the conference, correspondent member of ANAS Amin Ismayilov delivered a speech on “Development trend of Azerbaijan's national soil classification and digital soil mapping: problems and prospects". Mustafa Mustafayev, doctor of agricultural sciences, presented his report on "Modern land reclamation condition of irrigated lands in the Kur-Araz plain", and Konul Gafarbeyli, doctor of philosophy in agricultural sciences made a speech on "Research and mapping of the ecological situation of Zagatala region". Rovshan Abbasov, Ph.D. in geography, head of the Department of Geography and Environment of Khazar University, also delivered a speech at the plenary session. The first day of the international scientific conference ended with reports of local and foreign scientists in two sections: "Soil remote sensing, genesis, mapping and productivity improvement" and "Soil degradation, agrochemistry, biology and ecology".
The conference continues today - December 6 at the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry.
